Pastern Area Injury
This is a quarter horse with an injury on the front of the pastern, involving an extensor tendon laceration 2
inches above the hoof .
This case was added to show that although the visible wound may not look serious, there can be damage
just below the surface.
This wound healed cleanly, with no scarring and the horse was completely sound.
Look closely at the bottom of the wound just to
the right of center, and you can see where the
outer edge of the tendon was lacerated.
